Stories
left untold.

Water infrastructures have official histories. Communities, movements and landscapes have histories too. Explore the space between them.

Three documented histories of water, dispossession and resistance

Who speaks?Who remembers?

We begin where the official story ends. Not to replace one simplification with another, but to recover the struggle over what deserves to count as history.

Change
the frame.

Each investigation begins with a place and the people who knew it. Follow a source-linked timeline to see how decisions changed lives, and how communities challenged the power to make them.

Look outside
the water box.

These Helmand River photographs, credited to Mohsen Nagheeby in his June 2024 teaching presentation as taken in 2015, are a reminder that a river cannot be reduced to a treaty line or map symbol.

Our twelve-second visual essay is silent and contains no archival testimony. It is a reflective prompt, not an evidentiary documentary.

Not victims without voices.
Not resistance without context.

Absent voices are research questions. A documentary gap is not a licence to invent testimony. Where an affected community has spoken, we aim to cite and link its own account.

Power can be contested anywhere. We investigate colonial institutions, states, capital, domestic elites and the inequalities within resistance movements themselves.

Visual sources have rights and histories. The other clips and images shared for teaching are in editorial review and are not republished here until provenance, permission and context are verified.
